Advanced Transportation & Logistics
Cerritos CollegeAn an initiative of the California Community College’s Economic and Workforce Development (CCCEWD) program offers an electric vehicle infrastructure training program in partership with the Cerritos AutoSquare.
Provides at least 14 courses such as introduction to electric vehicles, M/D to H/D Brake systems, to diagnosing and repairing electric vehicles.

Employment opportunities continue to thrive, and the demand for trained automotive technicians in the field continues to increase. The Automotive and Related Technology program trains students to work as professionals in this field, offering instruction in maintenance, diagnosis, and overhaul procedures of electrical and fuel injection systems.
By fulfilling the program requirements, students will have gained the skills necessary to maintain, repair, and diagnose electrical, fuel injection systems, and overhaul procedures, as well as basic shop practices needed to meet industry standards.

El Camino CollegeThe automotive technology program prepares students for employment in the field and provides upgrade opportunities for currently employed personnel. By completing the degree or certificate requirements, the student will gain proficiency in safety practices, automotive service, testing, troubleshooting, brakes, suspension, wheel alignment, engine tune-up, electrical systems, fuel systems (carburetion and fuel injection), emission systems, transmissions, drive trains, engine repair, engine rebuilding, automotive machining, or air conditioning. Competencies will be assessed regularly in accordance with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards. A student completing degree or certificate requirements may expect to enter industry as a technician in automotive service, repair, tune-up, smog certification, or automotive air conditioning.
Automotive Technology- Intro to Hybrid, Electric and Fuel-cell Vehicle Technology
El Camino CollegeThis course explores the use of hybrid and electric battery power for vehicle transportation. Topics will include safety when using high voltage, maintenance, drivability, inverter, Direct Current to Alternating Current (DC/AC), power transfer, and battery technology. The physics of battery storage, hybrid generation systems, electric vehicle applications and their integrated systems from various manufacturers will be presented. Hybrid and high voltage service and maintenance procedures will also be discussed. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to complete the L-3 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exam.

New EPA/CARB regulations have impacted the fuel technology and energy source/design used. Trucks, trains, buses and many other medium and heavy duty vehicles have evolved to match today’s more stringent clean air emission standards. Graduates of the Diesel Technology program are well paid and have a diverse choice of areas in which to specialize. In recent years, the demand from local employers has exceeded our supply of qualified graduates as the program continues to grow.After successful completion of the program requirements, students will become proficient in all aspects of diesel engine fundamentals, electrical components, fuel systems, overhaul procedures, air brake system and the construction and operation of diesel engines.

San Bernardino Valley CollegeThe Heavy/Medium Duty Truck Technology program offers students high technology training and skills that may be utilized for immediate employment after certificate completion. Students will receive training in various subjects including brake and suspension, computer-controlled engines, emphasis in electrical and heavy-duty maintenance. Students working for certificates must have a basic knowledge of arithmetic, reading and writing in order to learn and work in the occupations they select.

JETSI Workforce Program (Rio Hondo)
Enhancement and expansion of existing battery electric trucks training efforts through Rio Hondo College and San Bernardino Valley College.

CSU Long Beach“Provide the market in California with highly qualified engineers and technicians for ZEV with the aim of decreasing the unemployment and poverty levels in the state. Certifications will be presented after the completion of the program.
By the end of this project, the following are expected:
- Build a training center equipped with the latest technological devices for training engineers and technicians for ZEV at California State University, Long Beach
- Training of trainers to work at the center
5-course certificate program to a total of 60 students in two cohorts (2023 and 2024).
