The eTRUC project is developing and maintaining an inventory of established training programs in California as the first step in building a robust toolkit for workforce development opportunities. Note that this list will be continually updated throughout the project lifetime. Advanced Transportation & LogisticsCerritos College
An an initiative of the California Community College’s Economic and Workforce Development (CCCEWD) program offers an electric vehicle infrastructure training program in partership with the Cerritos AutoSquare.
Provides at least 14 courses such as introduction to electric vehicles, M/D to H/D Brake systems, to diagnosing and repairing electric vehicles.

Los Angeles’ long-time infatuation with the motorcar has made it a leading center in automotive design. Employment opportunities continue to thrive, and the demand for trained automotive technicians in the field continues to increase. The Automotive and Related Technology program trains students to work as professionals in this field, offering instruction in maintenance, diagnosis, and overhaul procedures of electrical and fuel injection systems.
By fulfilling the program requirements, students will have gained the skills necessary to maintain, repair, and diagnose electrical, fuel injection systems, and overhaul procedures, as well as basic shop practices needed to meet industry standards.

The automotive technology program prepares students for employment in the field and provides upgrade opportunities for currently employed personnel. By completing the degree or certificate requirements, the student will gain proficiency in safety practices, automotive service, testing, troubleshooting, brakes, suspension, wheel alignment, engine tune-up, electrical systems, fuel systems (carburetion and fuel injection), emission systems, transmissions, drive trains, engine repair, engine rebuilding, automotive machining, or air conditioning. Competencies will be assessed regularly in accordance with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards. A student completing degree or certificate requirements may expect to enter industry as a technician in automotive service, repair, tune-up, smog certification, or automotive air conditioning.
Automotive Technology- Intro to Hybrid, Electric and Fuel-cell Vehicle TechnologyEl Camino College
This course explores the use of hybrid and electric battery power for vehicle transportation. Topics will include safety when using high voltage, maintenance, drivability, inverter, Direct Current to Alternating Current (DC/AC), power transfer, and battery technology. The physics of battery storage, hybrid generation systems, electric vehicle applications and their integrated systems from various manufacturers will be presented. Hybrid and high voltage service and maintenance procedures will also be discussed. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to complete the L-3 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exam.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) by Internal Services Department
This program provides comprehensive training for the installation of EVSE equipment.
All EVITP Certified Electricians must pass a certification exam for proof of knowledge and skill.
Also provides a list of contractors in all the states.

Heavy Duty Truck, Transit, and EquipmentLATTC
If you live in the United States, almost every single thing you eat, wear or use has been transported by diesel powered vehicles and alternative/green power plants.
New EPA/CARB regulations have impacted the fuel technology and energy source/design used. Trucks, trains, buses and many other medium and heavy duty vehicles have evolved to match today’s more stringent clean air emission standards. Graduates of the Diesel Technology program are well paid and have a diverse choice of areas in which to specialize. In recent years, the demand from local employers has exceeded our supply of qualified graduates as the program continues to grow.
After successful completion of the program requirements, students will become proficient in all aspects of diesel engine fundamentals, electrical components, fuel systems, overhaul procedures, air brake system and the construction and operation of diesel engines.

Heavy/Medium Duty Truck TechnologySan Bernardino Valley College
The Heavy/Medium Duty Truck Technology program offers students high technology training and skills that may be utilized for immediate employment after certificate completion. Students will receive training in various subjects including brake and suspension, computer-controlled engines, emphasis in electrical and heavy-duty maintenance. Students working for certificates must have a basic knowledge of arithmetic, reading and writing in order to learn and work in the occupations they select.

Adult Work Experience Program: Helps job seekers obtain skills that are needded for one to succeed in the workplace. The workers also get experience and paid.
JETSI Workforce Program (Rio Hondo)
Enhancement and expansion of existing battery electric trucks training efforts through Rio Hondo College and San Bernardino Valley College.
Rio Hondo and SBVC are also working with the Volvo LIGHTS team to design a training program with fire departments within the Inland Empire communities—including San Bernardino County (which covers the TEC Fontana dealership), Chino and Ontario—to ensure that the region’s first responders are fully prepared to safely respond in case of an incident or accident involving a heavy-duty battery-electric vehicle (H/D BEV).
Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)
Business Development Training Course (application open now)
During this free six-week training, 30 participants will gain an understanding of the sales cycle, market fit and business discovery, and the use of business canvas models. Participants are paired with LACI startups and partners for paid internships and job opportunities.
National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Training
Page 40 provides an overview of partenrships and training procedures.
Partnership with EVSE workforce and labor with National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), and Jobs to Move America (JMA).
Many existing apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs in AFC-adjacent communities can be leveraged to transform and train a new EVSE workforce.
Will use EVITP trained and certified workers as well.

USW Local 675
LOCAL 675 is a Union representing workers in the oil, chemical, bedding, carwash, paper and electric bus manufacturing industries.
Partners up with LA Conty WDACs, JMA, and Proterra to build electric buses.
They will develop a pre-hire training program and an apprenticeship program as well.
Designing a hub/ depot where EV’s can charge, receive maintenance, and a place where drivers can get food.
Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) ProgramCSU Long Beach
“Provide the market in California with highly qualified engineers and technicians for ZEV with the aim of decreasing the unemployment and poverty levels in the state. Certifications will be presented after the completion of the program.
By the end of this project, the following are expected:
- Build a training center equipped with the latest technological devices for training engineers and technicians for ZEV at California State University, Long Beach
- Training of trainers to work at the center
5-course certificate program to a total of 60 students in two cohorts (2023 and 2024).
