ACT Expo 2023 – May, 2023

The 2023 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo took place from May 2, 2023 to May 5, 2023 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. The event included four days of education spotlighting the latest trends, policies, solutions, and technologies transforming advanced clean transportation. Over 200 experts in the clean transportation industry were present and the discussions were focused on all aspects of the commercial transportation transformation such as updating the charging infrastructure, fuel alternatives, climate policies, incentives to advance adoption, and the newest technologies for low/zero-emission vehicles. The ACT Expo also included a three-day expo hall featuring 275+ sponsors and exhibitors showcasing the newest advances in the advanced clean vehicles space.

With over 12,000+ stakeholders in attendance, our CALSTART Team got to speak with a variety of stakeholders to discuss how we can nurture partnerships that will fuel a cleaner tomorrow. The team spoke to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) about the megawatt charging system (MCS) and how the system will be crucial to the advancement of clean transportation, especially for eTRUC’s work with heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (HD ZEVs). As MCS charging deployment is imminent, it was crucial that the team connected with the leading OEMs present at the ACT Expo to initiate the discussion around its future needs.

In addition to speaking with stakeholders, the eTRUC team had the opportunity to participate in the Ride & Drive Event. The team rode in a BYD Class 8 Day Cab, and got to experience a nearly silent, smooth 15-minute ride around the convention center. This was a great opportunity to converse with the experienced truck driver and learn more about their perspective on the benefits of battery electric trucks. The driver made remarks on the excitement of the new zero-emission HD trucks and the opportunity to drive these vehicles in the coming years as California passes laws that require a speedier transition to a clean drayage industry.
